The third quarter of 2022 saw significant activity in the consumer finance app sector on the Android platform in Africa. Below, we delve into the performance of the top 5 apps based on weekly downloads and active users.

NBE Mobile experienced a notable fluctuation in weekly downloads. Starting at around 57K in early August, downloads peaked at nearly 230K in the week of August 8, before gradually declining to approximately 57K by the end of September. The app's weekly active users showed a consistent upward trend, starting from 52K at the beginning of August and reaching over 407K by the end of September.

Capitec Bank saw steady weekly downloads, ranging from roughly 42K to 113K throughout the quarter. Weekly active users for the app also demonstrated growth, beginning at 2.7M in late June and rising to almost 2.9M by the end of September.
